Cover design for the German-language edition of “Der Mann mit dem Silberstern - Ein Abenteuer mit Leutnant Blueberry”

Here is a kind of draft for the German-language edition of “Der Mann mit dem Silberstern” (An Adventure with Lieutenant Blueberry from 1973) for the German-language album of the series “Zack Comic Box 4”.

The handwritten notes on the back were probably made by an employee of Koralle Verlag.

On the back of this drawing it says “Giraud 233335 / 9 1/2”.
However, 99% of the drawing is NOT by Giraud.
The proven Zack expert Bernd Weckwert (author of “Die Chronik des Koralle Zack”) wrote to us that Giraud once denied in an interview that he had designed the cover of the album “Zack Comic Box 4” himself. (see also: Blueberry Complete Edition)
Bernd Weckwert also has information that Turi & Tolk illustrator Dieter Kalenbach (29.8.1937 to 1.11.2021) has, according to his own statements, created at least one Blueberry cover for Koralle Verlag and on behalf of Giraut. It is therefore reasonable to assume that this and the final cover drawing were created by Dieter Kalenbach despite the GIR signature.

It must be a better sketch, which was probably made for Koralle Verlag for planning purposes.  Approx. 20 x 18 cm. Thin paper mounted on cardboard.

Of course, the object can be viewed here in Bremen. However, as we have to get it out of a safe, we need a few days to prepare it. We have added a watermark so that nobody can use our scan. If you are seriously interested in buying it, we can of course send you a picture without this watermark.

Provenance:
For many years, the drawing was in the possession of Wolfgang J. Fuchs (September 6, 1945 - January 20, 2020) Wolfgang J. Fuchs last lived in Munich and was a German non-fiction author, freelance journalist], comic book author, translator and film expert. He is considered Germany's first comic researcher.
Before his death, he sold the drawing to the Munich-based collector Chris Krumm, who unfortunately died just under two years later and whose estate we have taken over in its entirety.
